Myth #1 Carpets are a good covering for basement floors.

Not!  Especially if it isn’t heated or insulated.  Why not?  Carpet is susceptible to mold and mildew. Basement floors are usually cooler than the air over it and carpet will make the floor even cooler. If the humidity in the basement is high enough moisture can accumulate under the carpet providing the right conditions for mold and mildew.

Note:  Moisture problems needs to be resolved before you have any floortreatment done including polished concrete..
 

Here’s how to test for excess moisture.  Tape a piece of plastic by sealing the edges to the floor.  Come back in 24 hours.  If you see condensation, give us a call 519-841-4540
